"Quilters" reveals the story of a legacy quilt made by one woman for her six daughters. The characters, inspired by their exquisite handmade quilts, tell stories and sing songs. Each quilt block commemorates an event in their lives.
"Quilters" pays eloquent tribute to the courage and spirit of our nation's pioneer women by blending a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards of frontier life.
Originally developed and produced at the Denver Center Theatre company, this joyous and moving celebration of American Womanhood became a record-setting regional theater success before its presentations on Broadway and at the Edinburgh Festival.
Quilters is based on "The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art" by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen.
